  • Michelin Guide Seoul 2026: Jeongmyeon Review – Korean-Style Pho Worth Waiting For?
    Food & Cafes 2026. 6. 2. 23:59

If you think pho in Korea is simply Vietnamese pho, Jeongmyeon may surprise you.

Located just a short walk from Children's Grand Park Station (Line 7, Exit 4), Jeongmyeon has been recognized by the Michelin Guide every year from 2023 through 2026.

Unlike traditional Vietnamese pho, Jeongmyeon serves a uniquely Korean interpretation inspired by Jeju-style pork noodle soup.

The result is something familiar yet completely different.

If you enjoy noodles and want to experience a side of Korean food that many travelers miss, this place is absolutely worth considering.

    Why Jeongmyeon Is Special

Jeongmyeon is not trying to recreate Vietnamese pho.

Instead, it takes inspiration from Korean noodle traditions, particularly Jeju pork noodles, and creates something entirely its own.

The broth is rich and comforting while remaining clean and approachable.

It feels distinctly Korean without becoming too heavy.

This unique identity is likely one reason why the restaurant continues to earn Michelin Guide recognition year after year.

    What We Ordered

    We ordered:

    • Baekmyeon (White Noodle Soup)
    • Hongmyeon (Spicy Red Noodle Soup)
    • Cold Pork
    • Sweet Pumpkin Sikhye

Honestly, I would recommend ordering all of them if possible.

Each dish offered something different, and there was not a single disappointment.

Baekmyeon (White noodle) vs Hongmyeon (Red noodle)

    Baekmyeon (White noodle)

If you enjoy classic and comforting flavors, Baekmyeon is the safer choice.

The broth highlights the restaurant's signature style and allows the ingredients to shine.

This is probably the best starting point for first-time visitors.

    Hongmyeon (Red noodle)

For those who enjoy spicy food, Hongmyeon adds an extra layer of excitement.

The spice level enhances the richness of the broth without overpowering it.

If you regularly enjoy Korean spicy dishes, this would likely be your favorite.

    Cold Pork – Unexpectedly Memorable

One of the biggest surprises was the cold pork dish.

The flavor was sweet, tangy, refreshing, and unlike anything I had tried before.

Even after leaving the restaurant, this was one of the dishes that stayed on my mind.

It worked perfectly as a side dish alongside the noodles and added a completely different flavor profile to the meal.

    Highly recommended.

    Sweet Pumpkin Sikhye

To finish the meal, we ordered the sweet pumpkin sikhye.

The gentle sweetness paired nicely with the richer flavors from the main dishes.

It felt like a satisfying and traditional way to end the meal.

    Waiting Tips

One thing to know before visiting:

The wait can be very long.

The restaurant is relatively small, and demand is high.

In fact, when the waiting list becomes too long, the restaurant may stop accepting additional names entirely.

Because of this, arriving early is highly recommended.

    How the Waiting System Works

Jeongmyeon uses the CatchTable reservation system.

    You can:

    • join the waitlist through the CatchTable app
    • visit in person and register directly

If you have the app, it is worth checking availability before arriving.

This can save a significant amount of waiting time.

    While waiting, you can:

    • explore the neighborhood
    • relax nearby
    • use the seating available outside the restaurant

    Location

One of the best things about Jeongmyeon is accessibility.

Unlike many destination restaurants that require a car, this one is easily reachable by public transportation.

    Final Thoughts

Jeongmyeon is one of those restaurants that demonstrates how creative Korean cuisine can be.

Rather than copying a traditional dish, it takes inspiration from different culinary influences and creates something uniquely Korean.

Between the Michelin recognition, approachable prices, friendly service, and memorable food, it is easy to understand why people continue to wait in line for a table.

If you enjoy discovering local favorites beyond the usual tourist destinations, Jeongmyeon deserves a place on your Seoul food list.
